The defending champions France is all set to comeback with 25-man squad to lift the FIFA World Cup 2022 consecutively for the second time after defeating Croatia in 2018 by 4-2. Surely, they will be looking to have another strong campaign this time too.
This will be France’s 16th participation an FIFA World cup and if won France will become the third nation to win two World Cups in a row, following Italy (1934-1938) and Brazil (1958-1962). France coach Didier Deschamps will be hoping that his 25-man squad can take the most prestigious stage in sport by force once more.
Eleven members of the 2018 title-winning squad return, including captain Hugo Lloris and reserve goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, along with Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann.This season, there have been many emerging youngsters who have wowed at club level, from William Saliba to Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Deschamps has made the right decision by including them in the squad.
There will also be many experienced faces in the team. Raphael Varane, Oliver Giroud, Karim Benzema will be some of them. Deschamps included Raphael Varane in his FIFA World Cup squad on Wednesday despite the defender’s recent injury problems.”Varane has a longer-term injury but he too could be available against Australia if everything goes well” Deschamps said.
Benzema was shown exit gate from the France team five-and-a-half years ago due to his role in a blackmail scandal involving a sextape and his international teammate Mathieu Valbuena.
France is in Group D, which includes Australia, Denmark, Tunisia. Moreover, it will face Australia in it’s first match on November 23,2022.
